Melville Gardens, LLC and The Genitor Organization, LLC

Melville Gardens is a New York real estate development company that specializes in the development and construction of senior housing and care facilities. It conducts business under the trade name Concordia Senior Communities. The Managing Member and CEO of Melville Gardens, LLC is Ronald J. DeVito who is also the CEO of Concordia Senior Communities. Melville Gardens has substantial experience in developing, building, and operating senior housing and care facilities in New York State. Successful Melville Gardens’ projects include; Huntington Terrace Independent Living Apartments, Enriched Housing, and Special Needs Assisted Living and Hospice Care located in Melville, New York, Maple Pointe Enriched Housing and Adult Home in Rockville Center, New York, and Somerset Gardens Enriched Housing Program in Plainview, New York. The Genitor Organization, LLC is a subsidiary of Melville Gardens, LLC that provides development services.

Ronald J. DeVito is the founder and CEO of Concordia Senior Communities. Mr. DeVito is also the Managing Member and CEO of Concordia’s Parent Company, Melville Gardens, LLC, a company that develops senior housing and care facilities. As a practicing attorney for 47 years, Mr. DeVito has specialized in the development, financing and construction of real estate projects as well as in the legal representation of owners, developers, and operators of senior housing projects and facilities that provide care to the elderly. Mr. DeVito has developed, owned, invested in, and operated senior housing and care facilities valued at more than 200 million dollars.

Mr. DeVito’s extensive knowledge and experience prompted The Carlyle Group, a prestigious international investment firm with over $84.5 billion in assets under management, to select Melville Gardens, LLC to operate the Maple Pointe and Somerset Gardens senior care facilities on the Group’s behalf. In addition, Mr. DeVito’s law firm has been honored to represent and perform legal work for The Carlyle Group in relation to their adult care facility investments. Mr. DeVito has also served as Director to Southeastern Retirement Communities, a North Carolina based company that developed, owned, and operated assisted living facilities and five large continuing care retirement communities in the southeastern United States. He is legal counsel to and Managing Member of Senior Housing Investment Advisors, LLC, a Florida based consulting firm specializing in the senior housing and care industry. Mr. DeVito’s unique combination of legal expertise and operating experience in all aspects of the senior housing industry is testament to the viability and assured success of Concordia Senior Communities.


Salvatore Albanese, CPA [back to top]

Salvatore Albanese is Concordia Senior Communities’ Chief Financial Officer. As Chief Financial Officer of Concordia’s Parent Company, Melville Gardens, LLC, Mr. Albanese is responsible for budgeting, preparing financial projections, management and accounting. His specific focus is in the senior housing industry. During the last five years, Mr. Albanese has been responsible for overseeing the accounting, tax, and auditing functions of several assisted living facilities in Long Island, New York owned by The Carlyle Group. Mr. Albanese’s accounting career began in 1977 at Arthur Young and Company (now Ernst and Young) where he worked for six years in the audit and tax department for clients such as American Express, Random House, Mobil Oil, and NBC. The extensive audit, tax, and consulting experience gained prompted him to form Salvatore Albanese and Company, LLC in 1984 where he served clients such as Eastman Kodak, The Carlyle Group, Sun Chemical, and more. Mr. Albanese’s diverse financial background and specialty in the senior housing industry uniquely qualify him for the challenging position of Concordia’s CFO.


Phil Monastero, AIA [back to top]

Phil Monastero is the Senior Land Planner & Architect for Concordia Senior Communities. As a Principal with Concordia’s Parent Company Melville Gardens, LLC, Monastero Architecture, and the Partner in Charge of Design at Baldassano Architecture, LLP, Mr. Monastero brings a wealth of architectural design experience to the Concordia team. Mr. Monastero is a member of the American Institute of Architects and served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at NYIT from 1985 to 1995. He has won various awards, including the Archi Award in 2002 for the Brandywine Realty Trust in Jericho, New York, as well as two Archi Awards in 2006 for Downtown Development in Riverhead, New York and for the Design Competition for the Old Field Community Building. Mr. Monastero has diverse experience, working on projects for corporate, municipal, educational, industrial and health related facilities. With nearly 30 years of architectural design experience, Mr. Monastero brings his reputation of excellence to Concordia Senior Communities.


Thomas Virzi, CMAA [back to top]

Thomas Virzi is the Senior Construction Manager of Concordia Senior Communities. Thomas Virzi is the President of East Coast Construction and acts as both a Construction Consultant and Contractor for Concordia’s Parent Company, Melville Gardens, LLC. He is also a member of the Construction Management Association of America. Mr. Virzi has over 35 years of experience including shop drawing detailing, construction document preparation, construction contract administration, labor and subcontract negotiations, sales, marketing, and executive management of various commercial and industrial construction projects. Mr. Virzi’s extensive project experience includes office buildings, hotels, retail centers, houses of worship, community and public buildings, luxury condominiums, luxury residences, and senior housing projects including Huntington Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Melville, New York. Mr. Virzi brings his diverse experience in construction projects, management, and administration along with his pursuit of professionalism and profitability to the Concordia Team.


Christine M. Giambalvo, Esq. [back to top]

GiambalvoChristine Giambalvo is Concordia Senior Communities’ Principal Researcher and Demographics Expert. Ms. Giambalvo is an attorney who has been associated with the Law Offices of Concordia’s CEO Ronald J. DeVito, P.C. since 1992. She is also the Chief Operating Officer of Concordia’s Parent Company, Melville Gardens, LLC where she is responsible for, among other duties, the collection and analysis of demographic data pertaining to senior housing facilities. Prior to joining Mr. DeVito, she worked for a small general practice law firm concentrating in litigation and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Cecelia Goetz, a United States Bankruptcy Judge. Since joining Mr. DeVito, Ms. Giambalvo has practiced primarily in the areas of finance, development, operation, and sale of senior housing facilities. She has also had the opportunity, as an associate of Mr. DeVito, to serve as counsel to the operator of several assisted living facilities owned by the esteemed international investment firm, The Carlyle Group. Ms. Giambalvo’s experience in the demographics and legal environment of senior housing facilities is a tremendous asset to the Concordia Team.

With over 25 years of senior care experience, George Scala brings a wealth of information to Concordia. As a Director of Regulatory Compliance, Marketing, and Hospitality for Concordia Senior Communities, Mr. Scala will be instrumental in overseeing the management and operation of Concordia Senior Communities. Mr. Scala is a co-owner and partner of Innovative Concepts Consulting, LLC, an Albany, New York based management and consulting firm specializing in the senior living field. He graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Mr. Scala served as the Chief Financial Officer for both for-profit and not-for-profit nursing homes and home care programs while achieving a certificate in Long Term Care Administration from St. Joseph’s College in Maine. He is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in New York and has also served successfully as the Executive Director of multiple assisted living communities. Mr. Scala’s direct senior housing and management experience provide a solid foundation for the Concordia Team.


Kristen Batchelder, MPA [back to top]

Kristen Batchelder is also a Director of Regulatory Compliance, Marketing, and Hospitality for Concordia Senior Communities. With Mr. Scala, Ms. Batchelder will be instrumental in overseeing the management, operation, marketing, and public relations of Concordia Senior Communities. Ms. Batchelder is a co-owner and partner of Innovative Concepts Consulting, LLC,an Albany, New York based management and consulting firm specializing in the senior living field. While her expertise is in sales, marketing and training, Ms. Batchelder possesses extensive knowledge of the senior living field operations and regulations. She graduated from Russell Sage College with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and also earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Marist College. Ms. Batchelder has presented numerous seminars and trainings on informative and useful topics in long-term care, and specializes in Alzheimer’s and dementia presentations and education. She also served as the Community Sales Director at multiple assisted living communities, dramatically increasing census and revenue. Ms. Batchelder’s personal success and experience in management, marketing, and sales in the senior housing industry are invaluable to the Concordia Team.


 

Keri Vanderwarker, BS [back to top]

Keri Vanderwarker is the Associate Director of Marketing and Hospitality for Concordia Senior Communities. Ms. Vanderwarker’s senior living experience has been focused on providing financial, marketing, operational and management consulting services to adult home clients throughout New York State. She is currently Director of Operations for Innovative Concepts Consulting, LLC, an Albany, New York based management and consulting firm specializing in the senior living field. In her position, Ms. Vanderwarker works directly with senior care communities to enhance business functions including marketing, sales, management, and compliance. She graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing and was named one of the 2007 Zonta International Women in Business Scholarship Recipients. Ms. Vanderwarker’s first-hand experience with senior communities enables her to bring relevant ideas and a fresh perspective to Concordia Senior Communities.


 

Leonard Angerame, AIA [back to top]

Leonard Angerame, the President of Angerame Architects, P.C. is the Concordia Project Architect for Upper Hudson Valley Concordia projects. Angerame Architects is a comprehensive architectural firm that provides high quality design services with 28 years of experience. Angerame Architects specializes in the planning and design of new and renovated facilities including retirement communities, assisted living housing, enriched housing, Alzheimer’s and long-term care facilities. Mr. Angerame is responsible for establishing the design direction for the firm’s senior living projects, planning concepts, and Master Plans. He is a well-known architect in the upper Hudson Valley and Albany regions, working with clients such as Northeast Health, Daughters of Sarah, Arbor Ridge at Brookmeade, Atria Senior Living Group and more. Mr. Angerame is also a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB), and a member of the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (NYAHSA). Concordia Senior Communities Projects in the Upper Hudson Valley Region will benefit not only from his expertise in senior housing but also from his familiarity with the area.
